With Valentine's Day around the corner, watch out as 99 games’ Cupid Strikes makes a early bid for your heart.

Your goal in Cupid Strikes is to collect as many gifts as you can before time and your luck runs out. Gifts range from the token V-Day gifts such as flowers and chocolates to other interesting items - from a fishbowl to the RED iPod shuffle is a nice touch! As Cupid, you are armed with a bow and arrow to strike bubble-encased gifts of varying sizes as they float upward on your screen. You simply drag the arrow from left to right with your finger to aim and release to hit objects. Cupid Strikes tests your aim and accuracy  (and vision!) by sending gifts of varying sizes (tiny to large). Shoot big hearts for extra life, but avoid hitting the broken hearts or else you lose a life. If you run out of time without meeting your target score, you automatically lose a life.

There are four different environments that you can enjoy while playing, and 20 different kinds of gifts to strike with your bow and arrow. The game starts out easy, but the pace picks up after the first 5 levels. Since it takes a couple of seconds for the bow and arrow to reload, you have to take your shots wisely and accurately. Points vary from gift to gift, so you should try to get the gifts with the more points and strike as many as you can with a single arrow.

The graphics are highly polished and you get to appreciate the nicely detailed gifts whether big or small. The background music is pleasant and changes to suit  the growing frenetic speed as you level up. The controls are pretty smooth, although the reload time might throw you off and you might end up shooting too soon or too late.

It would be a great enhancement if there were more themes, power ups, bonuses and upgrades. Online leaderboard integration and achievements or trophies should also be included in the next update.

This game is pretty addictive, I warn you. I’ve been playing it for a few hours at a time since I downloaded it. It also serves as a nifty buying guide for potential gifts. For the ladies, Cupid Strikes is a very good idea if you want your man to get you the right gift. Get him to play the game at least once - after playing a couple of levels, he'll get the hint and will know what to get you this Valentine's day. (*winks*)

Cupid Strikes is a delightfully simple but addictive game, wrapped up in a polished, neat package that makes the experience so enjoyable. This feel good game will certainly put you in the mood for love!
